Lindsay Butler & Shaza Leigh Show
“On The Road”
Lindsay and Shaza with
their new look Butler Showband, have spent the past 2 months touring Australia.
The 2010 line-up includes leading bush balladeer Ashley Cook and Queen of
the Country Piano Peggy Gilchrist. Sharing the drumming duties have been
Greg Williams and Trevor Letton.

The troup flew to Alice
Springs and drove several hundred kilometres south east into
the desert
to perform at Umawa for
the new Outback Awards. The trip was and awesome experience for the members of
the band who had never had the privilege of travelling into this restricted
outback country as it
is private aboriginal land and visiting the lands is upon invitation only. The
welcome that Lindsay, Shaza and the crew received was fantastic and a great time
was had by all.
Upon their return they made their annual trip to the Boondooma Homestead for the
festival which has been continually growing over the years, becoming a firm
favourite amongst the leading festivals,
for traditional country
music fans.
The following weekend the troup headed to the Murray River for the Mulwala Country Music Spectacular. Lindsay and Shaza have been booked annually promoters, Ron and Jan Morgan, since this festivals inception. This festival has become renowned as ‘the friendly festival’ and this year attracted a record capacity crowd the the little river town.
Ron and Jan have now
introduced a second weekend annually to start in November from the 5th
to 7th. Lindsay, Shaza & The Butler Showband will be performing at
this new festival as
well as the May weekend with a different line-up of guest artists.
The show then toured into Victoria the following week having Shaza’s birthday
bushwalking at Hanging Rock and then dinner at a little pub in Macedon before
the two shows at Warnambool and Edenhope.

They then returned via the Great Ocean Road and into Ned Kelly country for some touristing and then into Wagga Wagga to enjoy the final festival on the southern circuit, The Wagga Wagga Country Music Weekend. This festival has also built into a successful weekend each year run by the country music club. This years’ programme was very well received by the fans who attended the concerts.
The Popular
Hall in Millers Forrest attracted the usual capacity crowd when the Butlers
performed there on the last Saturday of May. The hall committee always put on a
country supper to support their concerts and these evening have become extremely
popular over the years.
Lindsay, Shaza & Brian Letton were the very first concert to be held in
the country hall and next year sees the 10th Anniversary of these
concert presentations which have paid for enormous improvement to the hall
during that period.
The next festival is back on the Murray River, this time at Corowa, on the 17th
June. This is the first time at this festival for Lindsay and Shaza so there is
an eager anticipation to perform there for the first time.
